Move 1: Laying a Foundation for a More Present Embodied Tango with Sharon Chatkupt Lee, Psy.D

from $45.00

In this course, we will look at how to set up tangos in your EFT that will help you to be more present, more embodied and to capture more complexity. Sharon Chatkupt Lee notes “from many hundreds of hours of supervision, I can see how people get caught in thinking that if only they could get one partner to be vulnerable then the model would "work". We are facing so much complexity when we work with couples, this approach doesn't give us a strong enough foundation to handle all of what people bring into the room.”

In this course we will look at an approach to your tango work that will help you work more in the present moment and be more strategic. We will talk about and learn the difference between move 1 between and within as well as the 10000 foot view. We will look at how to address context, such as race, gender and power dynamics in couples relationships as a part of your move 1. Move 1 is where people truly begin to own their part of the cycle which is a pivotal moment in the progress of the relational therapy. We will learn to name what is happening in the dynamic in a way that is both kind and direct.

From attachment theory, neuroscience and polyvagal theory, we know that our internal state really matters in terms of how we impact our clients and shape our sessions. How can we be more in a flow state where we are in our own creative selves, present and attuned. When we think we have to do EFT a certain way or get it right, that shifts our state out of flow and into our left brains. This limits our effectiveness. This approach to using the tango helps us be more right brained in our work and more alive in our selves.
